Symposium “Exposure assessment in indoor and outdoor air pollution and its impact on health” in memory of Manel Nebot and Christophe Declercq.
The symposium presented and discussed recent research on exposure assessment in air pollution – both indoor in homes and buildings and outdoor – and its impacts on health.
It was dedicated to the memory of our dear colleagues and friends Manel Nebot and Christophe Declercq.

Aphekom releases project's findings (March 2, 2011)
The findings of nearly 3 years of our work show that life expectancy and monetary benefits increase significantly when levels of fine particles are reduced further in European cities. They reveal that living near busy roads substantially increases the total burden of disease attributable to air pollution. And they underscore the benefits from regulating pollution near busy roads beyond the achievements of current EU legislation.

Hosted by the project’s coordinator, Institut de Veille Sanitaire (French Institute for Public Health Surveillance), this meeting brought Aphekom scientists together with policy makers, other scientists and representatives of international organisations and NGOs from across Europe to discuss Aphekom’s findings and a wide range of issues concerning urban air pollution and health in Europe.
